Dallas Divide Range | Between Telluride, Ouray & Ridgeway, Colorado

This was one of the first areas of Colorado that I fell in love with when I visited over 10 years ago for the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. My sister lived in Durango at the time and we had magical experiences traveling around the area for various adventures. The mountains in this area are jaw dropping, especially to someone who was coming from the Chicago area. I find this divide in particular to be especially fabulous and I enjoyed capturing it in this piece.

In this painting I aimed to capture the magic of the mountains that I felt when I first visited and what drew me to move to Colorado from the midwest. The gorgeous fall aspens speckle unimaginable colors throughout the valley and the sun creates dynamic shadows on the peaks. As the sun moves throughout the day it glitters fantastic colors throughout the landscape.
